Lots and lots of good stuff happening this fall at The West End Cultural Centre:

Bahamas is there on October 30th.

The Wooden Sky returns for a gig on November 27th.

Local fave Matt Epp is launching his latest album there on October 18th w/ Catherine MacLelland.

Another resident fave Del Barber is there on October 26th.

Add Topanga to the Pack A.D. show going down on Halloween.

Move the September 13th Purity Ring show from the Lo Pub (RIP) to the WECC.

Meaghan Smith will hit the joint on November 28th.

And finally, The Sunparlour Players is scheduled to stop by on October 11th w/ Kalle Mattson.


Afternoon Headlines: Pumpkins, Shadow

First up, my fave band from 94-98 is rolling through Winnipeg for the third time in its existence: Those Smashing Pumpkins (replete with one original member, Billy) drop by the MTS Centre on Tuesday, October 2nd. Look for me up in the cheap seats.

Second, the inimitable DJ Shadow is at the Pyramid on Thursday, September 27th.

Add Lindi Ortega to the KD Lang show going down at Pantages on September 14th.

Victoria-based singer-songwriter Aidan Knight is at the Park Theatre on October 24th.

And finally, Liam Titcomb will play Old Market Square this Friday, I presume over lunch.


Evening Headlines: The Weeknd to Play the Burt; The Lytics CD Release

The Weeknd materializing at the Burt on Monday, September 24th. Tickets go on sale this Friday @ 10.

Local hip hop fave The Lytics is releasing its next record at the Pyramid on Friday, October 19th.

Update: other than here, I can't find any secondary evidence that this show exists. Consider it pending. White-hot Grimes is at the Pyramid on Sunday, October 21st.

Adam Cohen is at the West End Cultural Centre on Tuesday, October 23rd.

Madchild is at the Park Theatre w/ Tech N9ne on Sunday, September 16th.

And speaking of the Park Theatre, the venue is celebrating its 7th anniversary with a four-night musical soiree spanning from Wednesday, September 5th to Saturday the 8th. The lineup:
